Solid
You guys have shown me unconditional support. For some of you, you've known what i've been going through since day one and for the others, I hope it's not too much to handle... but I know you guys will always be there.
Thank you and continue to pray for me.
I couldn't ask for better family and friends. You guys are really rock solid, so kudos to you for everything.
I owe you my lives, literally.

It gets exhausting
It's exhausting trying to be perfect.
Don't you people get tired of it?
Every strand of hair placed strategically in the right place.
Curl it here, straighten it here.
This shirt has to be worn with these pants, those shoes.
Eye shadow must be the perfect shade.
Eyelashes made up to the perfect angle, with the right amount of mascara.
One pimple, five pimples, twenty pimples, gotta cover them all up.
Blush here, bronzer there.
Can't be too trashy. That's immature.
Can't be too classy. That makes you stiff.
Gotta impress these people, even though they're already your friends.
Have to fit in, like what others like, do what others do.
...Just stop trying.
Or if you have to keep trying, don't try so hard.
Do... you
Be... you
Accept... you
Love... you
Know that you truly are enough
Don't give major time to minor people
Period.

On the eve of the Inauguration
Sometimes life is like a tree...in order to rise up you must move along a different branch.
My life, like everyone else, has taken me down many paths in the past year, but it's only after today that I can really appreciate what I have and gain a new perspective and outlook on the hand that God has dealt me.
2009 is the year of change and "yes we can"s.
This year will be great...and I hope that you guys have the same optimism no matter what has happened or what may come.
Pardon my language, but it's about time the USA replaced that dumbass of a president.
Tomorrow will mark Barack's first official day in office, and although many people are skeptical to the outcomes of his work, all he can really do is try. He has four years to live up to his promises. However, I believe that he has already taken a profound step in the right direction towards hope and change. Whether he intended to or not, people in countries everywhere have felt the impact of his election. I know one thing is for sure; he instills strong confidence and hope in me that I haven't felt in awhile.
He is no doubt one of my modern day heroes.
It's nice to see people like him succeed, and to see that good things come to those who wait.
President Obama seems like the ideal man; good father, loving and proud husband, nurturing son, hard working, accomplished lawyer, kind and charming...and it doesn't hurt that he's fit and makes shots in ball as a lefty ;) What can I say, I gotta find me one like him haha
Some quotes I liked from his inaugural address: (to watch it incase you missed it, go to the link on the bottom of the note, there are 5 parts). He has some really good writers by the way, and he delivers perfectly.
"...in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit, to choose our better history, to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."
If you've never heard this passage he refers to, it's from 1 Corinthians 13:11. One of my favourites and one that I actually hoped would be in his speech, how perfect.
" When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me"
"Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again..."
"This is the source of our confidence--the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny"
"With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested, we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter"

The Biggest Heart
If you know me well, you've probably heard me say at one point or another, "I hate disliking people" or "I hate when people dislike me"
To be honest, for some reason today at the Good Friday service I was fighting back tears at so many points during mass. I feel like I've finally found the meaning of Easter (well, for me).
It's funny because we are all living life trying to achieve the same things...happiness, love, success, and basically just make the most of every single day that we receive as a blessing. Yet, for some odd reason, something bad happens. Somewhere along the way to obtaining these 'things' we step on each other or get stepped on.
If you know me, you'll also know that I want to have THE BIGGEST heart in the world. Big enough to love everyone and everything. That's what I want. That's the reason why I don't like disliking people, and that's why I like to see the good in everyone and to love when I don't think I can give it anymore. It's almost like a challenge.
I want to have a big enough heart to TRULY forgive myself for my mistakes, forgive others who have hurt me, and remember those who I have hurt.
Next time you feel like you can't be patient anymore
can't love anymore
can't hold in the anger
...take a look at the people around you and realize that behind every face is a struggle
Like I said, somewhere along the way to finding happiness and love, something goes wrong.
Know that everything happens for a reason
and there really is a struggle behind every face.
The only way I can be at peace in my life is to know that along the way to finding happiness and love, God helped me to realize that we're all in this race to find the same things.
We're all more alike than we think and we all have it in us to love to no end
Jesus did just that...when he was dying on the cross.
He even said, "Forgive them Lord for they know not what they do,".
I want to have a heart as big as His, to forgive others and to forgive myself.
A big enough heart to love and be loved
and a big enough heart to be deserving of His compassion.

Happy Good Friday everyone

Time is like Toothpaste
Time is like toothpaste, or shampoo, or anything else that we use for that matter.
2 things I learned from this analogy:
1) How to be GREENER...because I looove saving the planet haha (no sarcasm intended)
2) How to appreciate time in our life
Story:
You buy _________ (insert item, like toothpaste or shampoo). For this story I'll use toothpaste haha. In the beginning it's all fine and dandy when you have LOTS of it! You put a bunch of it on your toothbrush...no worries because there's plenty to go around! Then you reach the end of the tube and start realizing that to save the toothpaste you need to use up only as much as you need. yada yada yada you get the point, right?
Long story short:
1) Be greener, don't take so long in the shower (I have a hard time with this too), turn off the faucet when washing your face or brushing your teeth, don't litter (Biggest pet peeve EVER)
You never know when the world will run out of its supposedly 'infinite renewable resources' so use them sparingly!
2) The bigger lesson...time is like toothpaste. We waste it all when we have lots of it, but then most of us grow up and find that it's all gone in the blink of an eye. Forty years from now we'll look back and wonder where it all went. So treat life like toothpaste, start treasuring it from the moment you get the full tube! haha ya know?
Where did this come from?
I know for a fact that some people hear about me going to the Philippines this summer and wonder, "You're going away to do volunteer work during your last summer of university before graduating?". Simple and plain answer: Why not? Balance is key in life. I wanna someday have a family and be able to tell my kids and grandkids that I worked hard AND played hard...and when I could I contributed to the world a little haha. "Helping others never goes out of style" (From a tshirt I own)
Think about it.

Bests
Once in awhile I get a good forward on hotmail, this was one of them (thanks kal)
"When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend ...
And then - I started to become a woman.
And then - I found out that if you allow your heart to open up,
God would show you the best in many friends.
One friend is needed when you're going through things with your school/work.
Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your Mom.
Another will sit beside you in the bleachers and listen to you cry about your jerk-boyfriend.
Another friend who will tell you to suck it up when you're being a baby.
Another when you need someone to hold your hair back after a night of bad decisions.
Another friend who will be your alibi for your parents.
And another to steal, laugh, joke, or do 'just because' things with.
One friend will say, 'Let's cry together,'
Another, 'Let's fight together,'
Another, 'Let's walk away together,'
Another, 'Let's do it again.'
One friend will meet your spiritual need,
Another - whatever your fetish,
Another - your love for movies,
Another will be with you in your season of confusion,
Another will be your clarifier,
Another the wind beneath your wings.
But whatever their assignment in your life,
On whatever the occasion,
On whatever the day,
Or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back,
Or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself ...
Those are your best friends.
It may all be wrapped up in one woman.
But for many, it's wrapped up in several.
One - from 7th grade,
One - from high school,
Several - from the college years,
A couple - from old jobs.
On some days - your Mother,
On some days - your neighbour,
On others - your sisters,
And on some days - your daughters."

Agreed.
If I could have 8 maid of honours I would, but since I can't I probably won't even have one (unless it's family)
I'm lucky to have
YOU to keep me grounded
YOU to go boy crazy with
YOU to kick back, relax, and enjoy life with
YOU to vent and go to for advice
YOU to make fun of and get made of with
YOU to be level headed and understanding with
YOU to try to keep my morals intact
YOU to cry with and keep me sane
Some of you are there to play sports with...some to be there when things get really crappy...some when I need a picker upper...some to walk our dogs with =)...some to go to the beach with...some to cook and eat all the time...
Just to make it clear, you're all THE best friends ever.
It's up to you to figure out which "YOU" you are in that list up there...haha

Transferring notes from FB
May 13, 2009 - The Perfect Potential (not to be taken SO seriously haha)
I wrote a previous note stating that I want to find a guy that can make me think, "Man I am so lucky to have him!". Maybe i'm wrong, but at this age those guys are few and far between...but i'm sure that close to none have thought the same thing about me so I can't complain. That's precisely why i'm writing this note, because i'm sure a lot of us single folk (AND taken ones) could use a lot of help in this department. We all have the potential, hence the title of this note.
Feel free to post your two cents cuz i'm not posting EVERYTHING here, i'm just putting in the first ones that come to mind
The Perfect Potential Man:
- confidence without being cocky (cockiness is the biggest turn-off for me, do i get an amen from any other girls? haha)
- respectful: ie. when he drops the girl off at home he waits for her to get INSIDE the house, holds the door open, greets parents, family, or friends always, doesn't talk on the phone or text during dates or what not, etc.
- well rounded with many interests and a broad and open mind
- the kind of guy you can leave alone with your family and friends, without having to worry about what he'll say or what he'll do lol...because he's got it under control
- a guy that can take care of a girl, and not view that as being whipped haha
- good sense of humour
- can serenade you or at least try...this is toooooo cute
- "in touch" with his feminine side and his feelings, without losing his masculinity haha
- balances work and play, and balances seriousness with a laid back personality
- i LOVE LOVE LOVE when guys give up their seat on the subway for elderly people or moms with their kids...i take this as not only observant but mindful of a guy...sadly most of the time, I find myself giving up my seat more often than other guys on the train...
Although I'm optimistic, I'm still pretty jaded about guys...they talk a lot of bull...haha
1) Guys are like shopping for Jordans or a Louis bag on ebay...if it seems too good to be true then it's probably fake. haha
2) I will only consider you legit when your actions match your words.
#1 turn off for girls__________?
The Perfect Potential Woman: (or what I think at least, so guys help me out!)
- can be classy without even trying
- holds her own (I believe that guys enjoy spoiling and taking care of his girlfriend, ONLY if he knows that she can do it all on her own as well)
- can be independent yet not closed off
- can cook, or at least try (this does not include popping pizza pops in the microwave lol)
- drives standard (this seems cool for some reason, haha)
- can be laid back (*insert lyrics...sweatpants, hair tied, chillin with no make-up on haha) and comfortable in whatever she's wearing, weather it's girly girl clothes or more boyish clothing
- no fakeness, girls are the masters of this SKILL haha
- basically the kind of girl you take home to mom, but has much more depth and "coolness" to her haha
- girls who can be "motherly" at the right time...ie. the "burnt toast" idea...i'm the type that will make myself uncomfortable to ensure that my friends or others are more comfortable...so that if 1 piece of toast out of 10 pieces are burnt, i'll take the burnt one so that others won't have to
Let's face it, us girls overanalyze anything and everything. If there's a topic to be discussed, we will blab on forever, no breaks needed. But girls rule the world, hands down. haha
#1 turn off for guys __________?
*I think the most important point, for both guys and girls, is that they don't make it KNOWN or don't SAY that they have these qualities but just live them. It should just be a part of who you are, rather than being...*opens door for girl, "hey look, i'm opening the door, aren't i being a gentleman?" haha...you get my drift
